The O2 Arena is a multi-purpose indoor venue located on the Greenwich Peninsula in southeast London, designed by Populous and opened in 2007. Built within the iconic Millennium Dome—a massive dome-shaped structure originally constructed for a turn-of-the-millennium exhibition—the arena boasts the third-highest seating capacity of any indoor venue in the United Kingdom. The structure retains the dome's distinctive form, measuring 365 metres in diameter and 52 metres in height, making it the ninth-largest building in the world by volume. In 2008, it became the world's busiest music arena. Named after its primary sponsor, the telecommunications company O2, the venue sits at the heart of The O2 entertainment district and is served by North Greenwich station on the Jubilee line.
