Situated on the Greenwich Peninsula in Southeast London, The O2 is a major entertainment complex built largely within the iconic tent-like shell of the former Millennium Dome, designed by architects Populous and Richard Rogers. Originally constructed to house an exhibition celebrating the millennium's turn, the dome structure was retained and its interior completely redeveloped following the closure of the original exhibition. The reimagined district, which took its name from the mobile telephone provider O2 in 2005, now encompasses an indoor arena, music venue, Cineworld cinema, bowling alley, exhibition space, and numerous bars and restaurants. A guided tour allows visitors to ascend to the top of the distinctive canopy. Served by North Greenwich station on the Jubilee Line and Thames Clippers river services, the venue has remained a defining landmark of contemporary London's entertainment landscape.
