London Stadium in Stratford, East London, is a multipurpose outdoor venue designed by Populous and originally built in 2008 for the 2012 Summer Olympics and Paralympics, where it served as the athletics stadium and hosted the Games' opening and closing ceremonies. Initially configured for 80,000 spectators, the stadium was remodelled between 2013 and 2015 to 66,000 seats (with football capacity capped at 60,000), transforming it into a year-round facility. West Ham United have been anchor tenants since 2016, while UK Athletics continue to use the venue, including hosting an annual World Athletics Diamond League round known as the London Grand Prix. Located in the Lower Lea Valley six miles east of central London within Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park, the stadium has been managed through various public entities, including the London Legacy Development Corporation and its subsidiary E20 Stadium LLP.
