Tottenham Hotspur Stadium is a multi-purpose sports venue in London, England, designed by Populous and opened on 3 April 2019. With a capacity of 62,850, it ranks as the third largest football stadium in England and the largest club ground in London. Built on the site of the demolished White Hart Lane, it serves as the home of Premier League club Tottenham Hotspur and also hosts NFL International Series games and concerts. The stadium is distinguished by the world's first dividing, retractable synthetic turf pitch, engineered to accommodate both football and American football. Originally envisioned in 2007 and announced in 2008 as the centrepiece of the Northumberland Development Project—a 20-year regeneration initiative for Tottenham—the stadium's construction was delayed by disputes and did not begin until 2015. Though intended to bear a sponsor's name, it has remained officially titled Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, though some refer to it informally as New White Hart Lane.
