Huntington Bank Stadium is an outdoor football venue on the University of Minnesota campus in Minneapolis, designed by Populous and completed in 2009 after three years of construction. The 50,805-seat "horseshoe" configuration cost $303.3 million and was engineered to accommodate future expansion to 80,000 seats. It was the first new Big Ten football stadium built since Indiana University's Memorial Stadium in 1960. Beyond its primary role as home to the Minnesota Golden Gophers, the facility served as temporary host to the NFL's Minnesota Vikings during 2014–2015 and to Minnesota United FC during 2017–2018, while their respective permanent venues were under construction. At its opening, the stadium featured the largest home locker room in college or professional football at the time and one of the nation's largest video boards.
