The Spire of Notre-Dame de Paris is a Gothic Revival flèche rising 9 meters above the intersection of the cathedral's transept in the Quartier Notre-Dame. The structure is constructed of oak wood sheathed in lead. The current spire is the third to crown the cathedral; the original was built between 1220 and 1230 but was removed in the late 18th century due to severe damage. The second spire, designed by Eugène Viollet-le-Duc and installed in 1859, was destroyed in the devastating fire of 15 April 2019. A third spire was constructed beginning in 2022, completed with the placement of a new copper rooster weather vane on 16 December 2023, and formally unveiled on 13 February 2024.
