The Sundial Bridge at Turtle Bay is a cantilever spar cable-stayed bridge spanning the Sacramento River in Redding, California, designed by Santiago Calatrava and completed in 2004. Engineered specifically for bicycles and pedestrians, the bridge's most distinctive feature is its form: it functions as a large-scale sundial, a sculptural integration of engineering and timekeeping. Completed at a cost of $23.5 million, the structure has become iconic to the city and exemplifies Calatrava's signature style of combining dramatic technical innovation with striking visual form.
