Built in 1892 for Prussian-born entrepreneur T. H. Kleinschmidt and his family of eight, this Victorian Queen Anne house in Helena, Montana reflects the prosperity of its owner, who made his fortune in placer mining before co-founding the First National Bank of Helena with Governor Samuel Thomas Hauser. Designed by architect W. E. Norris, the residence exemplifies the ornamental style favored by Helena's mining elite during the late nineteenth century. The house was recognized for its historical significance when it was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1980.
