The Teatro degli Arcimboldi is a theatre and opera house in Milan, built in 2002 in the Bicocca district within a converted Pirelli tire factory, approximately 4.5 miles from the city centre. Designed by Vittorio Gregotti in collaboration with Mario Botta and Elisabetta Fabbri, the venue was constructed over 27 months as a temporary home for Milan's La Scala opera house during its renovation. The fan-shaped, two-level auditorium seats 2,375 and was inaugurated on 19 January 2002 with a performance of Verdi's *La traviata*, allowing La Scala's 2001/2002 season to continue. After La Scala's reopening on 7 December 2004, Teatro degli Arcimboldi broadened its programming to include musicals, jazz, classical, and pop music alongside opera.
