Originally known as the Teatro alla Canobbiana, Milan's Teatro Lirico stands on Via Rastrelli as a neoclassical opera house designed by Giuseppe Piermarini and Antonio Cassi Ramelli. Throughout the nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, it earned distinction as a venue for major operatic premieres, hosting the world premieres of Donizetti's *L'elisir d'amore* and Giordano's *Fedora*. The theatre closed in 1998 but underwent comprehensive restoration beginning in 2007, reopening in December 2021 as the Teatro Lirico Giorgio Gaber under the completion oversight of Stage Entertainment. Today it remains a nationally protected heritage site.
