Temple Sinai, a Reform Jewish synagogue located at 11620 Warwick Boulevard in Newport News, Virginia, was designed by architect Edward Loewenstein and completed in 1960. Established five years earlier in 1955, the congregation was the first and remains the only Reform congregation on the Virginia Peninsula. The building exemplifies Modernist architecture through its straightforward design: a single-story, roughly rectangular structure clad in brick veneer, distinguished by a projecting trapezoidal entrance. Recognized for its local architectural significance, Temple Sinai was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 2015 and designated a Virginia Historic Landmark.
