The Theater auf der Wieden, also known as the Freihaus-Theater auf der Wieden, was a theater in Vienna's then-suburban Wieden district that operated for a brief but remarkably productive period from 1787 to 1801. Under the direction of Emanuel Schikaneder, who served as impresario and would later become famous as librettist of Mozart's *The Magic Flute*, the theater premiered over 350 theatrical works during its 14 years of existence. Most notably, it was the venue for the world premiere of Mozart's celebrated opera *The Magic Flute*, securing its place in the history of music and theater despite its short lifespan.
