Opened in 1893 in Vienna's Mariahilf district, the Raimund Theater was built by a civic association and designed by architect Franz Roth. Named after the Austrian dramatist Ferdinand Raimund, the theater inaugurated on 28 November with a performance of Raimund's play *Die gefesselte Phantasie*. With seating for approximately 1,200 people, it has evolved into a venue primarily hosting major musical productions. Today the theater is part of the Vereinigte Bühnen Wien portfolio, alongside the Theater an der Wien and the Ronacher.
