Thirukkavalampadi, also known as the Gopalakrishna Perumal Temple, stands in Thirunangur within Mayiladuthurai district in Tamil Nadu and represents one of the 108 Divya Desams—the sacred temples of Vishnu celebrated in the Nalayira Divya Prabandham, the early medieval Tamil canon of the Alvar saints (6th–9th centuries CE). Built in the Dravidian architectural style, the temple enshrines Vishnu as Gopalakrishnan alongside his consort Lakshmi, manifested in dual forms as Rukmini and Satyabhama. One of eleven Divya Desams at Thirunangur and intimately linked with the saint Thirumangai Alvar, the temple observes four daily rituals and draws pilgrims during its major annual festival, the Thirumangai Alvar Mangalasasana Utsavam held in the Tamil month of Thai, when sacred images of all eleven Thirunangur temples are borne aloft on a Garuda-shaped vehicle.
