The Thompson Court Apartments, located in Portland, Oregon, is a historic apartment building completed in 1929 by architect Ewald T. Pape for developer William K. Johnson. Designed as a modern example of middle-class residential living, the building features two-story townhouse-type units arranged in an L-shaped footprint that preserves central greenspace. Each unit includes individual front and back entrances with separate addresses, reflecting Pape's distinctive integration of practical design features—prioritizing interior function over external ornamentation. Though individual elements were not unusual in apartment design, Pape's cohesive combination of these features demonstrated his vision for accessible, well-organized housing. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
