Built in 1931 in Fort Plain, Montgomery County, New York, this Colonial Revival post office exemplifies the federal government's architectural ambitions during the Depression era. Designed by the Office of the Supervising Architect of the Treasury Department under James A. Wetmore, the two-story symmetrical brick structure features a shallow projecting frontispiece framed by four brick pilasters and is ornamented with a pair of Grecian-style lamps with glass globes. A one-story rear wing extends from the main volume. The building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1989 and stands within the Fort Plain Historic District.
