Located at the northwest corner of 164th Street and 89th Avenue in Jamaica, Queens, this two-story brick post office was constructed between 1932 and 1934 as one of only two such buildings in New York City designed by the architectural firm Cross & Cross, working as a consultant to the Office of the Supervising Architect. Built in the Colonial Revival style, it stands on a light gray granite base with marble trim and features a handsome marble portico supported by four Ionic order columns. Listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1988, the building serves the 11432 ZIP Code and was renamed in 2007 to honor Clarence L. Irving.
