The Van Gogh Museum, located on Amsterdam's Museum Square in the city's South district, opened on 2 June 1973 as a Dutch art institution dedicated to Vincent van Gogh and his contemporaries. Designed by Gerrit Rietveld and Kisho Kurokawa and constructed in concrete and glass, the museum houses the world's largest collection of Van Gogh's paintings and drawings. Positioned near the Stedelijk Museum, the Rijksmuseum, and the Concertgebouw, it has become one of the Netherlands' most-visited institutions, attracting 2.3 million visitors in 2017 and ranking as the 23rd-most-visited art museum globally. In 2019, the museum launched the Meet Vincent Van Gogh Experience, a technology-driven immersive exhibition that has toured internationally.
