Located in Aiken County, South Carolina, the Vaucluse Mill Village Historic District is considered the state's oldest mill village, comprising a textile mill completed in 1877 alongside numerous accompanying buildings and over eighty residential homes constructed in the Greek Revival style. The mill itself was designed by the Providence, Rhode Island engineering firm A. D. Lockwood & Company, whose successor firm, Lockwood, Greene & Company, would go on to design approximately fifty of South Carolina's textile manufacturing facilities. The district was listed on the National Register of Historic Places on May 7, 1996.
