Designed by architect Dominique Perrault and completed in 1997, the Velodrom is an indoor track cycling arena in Prenzlauer Berg, Berlin, with a capacity of 12,000. Built as part of Berlin's unsuccessful bid for the 2000 Summer Olympics—a project tied to German reunification and the city's emergence as the nation's capital—it stands on the site of the former Werner-Seelenbinder-Halle, demolished in 1993. The venue is integrated into a larger complex that also includes a swimming pool. Beyond its primary function hosting track cycling events, the Velodrom served as Berlin's largest concert venue until 2008, and continues to accommodate sporting competitions, trade shows, and musical performances.
