Villa Montfeld, located in the El Biar district of Algiers, is a mid-nineteenth-century residence reconstructed in Moorish Revival style by English architect Benjamin Bucknall between 1878 and 1895. The villa was purchased by the United States government in 1947 to serve as the official residence of the American Ambassador to Algeria. The building gained historical significance in 1981 when it hosted the negotiations that resulted in the Algiers Accords, the agreement that concluded the Iran hostage crisis. Today it remains on the Register of Culturally Significant Property.
