Waverly is a Greek Revival frame house located near Burnt Chimney in Franklin County, Virginia, built beginning around 1853 for Armistead Lewis Burwell and his family. The two-story dwelling, approximately 52 by 38 feet, features a central passage plan and rests on a brick foundation. Originally the center of a substantial tobacco and grain plantation worked by enslaved labor, the property also housed a chewing tobacco factory, gristmill, and sawmill by 1860. The house and its associated outbuildings—including a contributing meathouse and icehouse—reflect the agricultural operations and domestic life of a prominent Virginia family across three generations of ownership. Waverly was designated a Virginia Historic Landmark and listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1996.
