Wellington Regional Stadium, a major multi-purpose sports venue in Wellington, New Zealand, was designed by the architectural firms Warren and Mahoney and Populous and completed in 1999. Built by Fletcher Construction on reclaimed railway land surplus to the city's needs, the stadium occupies 48,000 square metres and sits strategically close to major transport facilities, including Wellington railway station, approximately one kilometre north of the central business district. Beyond its primary function as a sporting arena, the venue serves as a large-capacity facility for concerts and major events. Its distinctive bowl structure has earned it the colloquial nickname "The Cake Tin" among locals and visitors alike.
