Situated in Wexford, Ireland, the National Opera House (originally the Wexford Opera House) is a purpose-built theatre designed by Keith Williams Architects in collaboration with the Office of Public Works. Officially opened on 5 September 2008 by Taoiseach Brian Cowen, the venue was constructed on the site of the demolished Theatre Royal to meet demand generated by the success of the Wexford Festival Opera. The building comprises two performance spaces: the 771-seat O'Reilly Theatre and the smaller Jerome Hynes Theatre with capacity for up to 176 people. Renamed Ireland's National Opera House in 2014, the facility now serves as a theatre, concert, and conference venue for the region.
