Built in 1922–23 for William O. Jenkins, a businessman reputedly the wealthiest man in Mexico, this Mediterranean Revival mansion stood at 641 South Irving Boulevard in Los Angeles. Though demolished in 1957 to make room for the Tidewater Building, the house achieved lasting cultural significance as a film location: it appeared in Billy Wilder's *Sunset Boulevard* (1950) and James Dean's *Rebel Without a Cause* (1955), earning it the nickname "the Phantom House" and alternate designation as the J. Paul Getty mansion in cinema history.
