Winston Place is a historic residence in Valley Head, Alabama, originally built as a two-story I-house by William O. Winston, a lawyer from Tennessee who arrived in DeKalb County in 1838 and went on to serve in the Alabama House of Representatives and invest heavily in the Wills Valley Railroad. In the late nineteenth century, the exterior underwent extensive Colonial Revival modifications, including the addition of a two-story wrap-around porch and tetrastyle portico. Around 1930, rear outbuildings were connected to the main structure, creating an L-shaped plan. Listed on the Alabama Register of Landmarks and Heritage in 1976 and the National Register of Historic Places in 1987, the house stands as evidence of both mid-nineteenth-century domestic construction and later Victorian-era ornamentation.
