The William Pitt Union, located on the University of Pittsburgh's main campus, is a Beaux-Arts structure originally built in 1898 as the Hotel Schenley. Designed by Pittsburgh-based architects Rutan & Russell, the hotel served the city's affluent residents and visitors before the university acquired the property in 1956 and converted it to its student union. The building is recognized as a Pennsylvania and Pittsburgh History and Landmarks Foundation Historic Landmark.
