Built in 1779, the William Wellington House in Waltham, Massachusetts exemplifies Federal and Georgian domestic architecture of the late eighteenth century. The residence remained with two families until approximately 1930, when it passed to Middlesex County Hospital and subsequently fell into disrepair, remaining abandoned for over two decades. In 2005, developers acquired the house as part of the nearby Wellington Crossing condominium development and, together with a $100,000 donation, conveyed it to the city of Waltham for restoration. The Waltham Historical Commission raised an additional $367,000 to fund exterior renovations, recognizing the home's significance as a residence of one of Waltham's founding families. The house was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1989.
