Designed by Santiago Calatrava and completed in 2003, the Auditorio de Tenerife is an opera house and concert hall located on the Avenue of the Constitution in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Canary Islands, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean in the Port of Santa Cruz. Constructed between 1997 and 2003, the building exemplifies late-modern expressionist architecture and was inaugurated on 26 September 2003 in the presence of Felipe, Prince of Asturias. Its distinctive majestic profile has become an architectural symbol not only of Santa Cruz but of the entire Canary Islands, earning recognition as one of the finest contemporary buildings in the archipelago and among Spain's most emblematic structures. The auditorium has served as the home of the Orquesta Sinfónica de Tenerife and has become a major tourist attraction and iconic establishing shot in films and television productions set in the city.
