The Bertelsmann Building, now known as 1540 Broadway, is a 44-story office tower on Times Square in Manhattan's Theater District. Designed by David Childs of Skidmore, Owings & Merrill and completed in 1990, it rises 223 metres to its spire. It is distinguished by an outward-projecting prow on its western side and a facade of blue and green glass with vertical aluminum mullions, and it was named for its anchor tenant, the German media company Bertelsmann.
