Completed in 1998 and designed by Populous, the Broadmoor World Arena is an 8,000-seat multipurpose venue in Colorado Springs that serves as home to world-class concerts, the Broadmoor Skating Club, and elite figure skaters. The complex includes an adjacent Ice Hall with two practice rinks—one NHL-sized and one Olympic-sized—and has hosted the Colorado Gold Speedskating Club and, until 2007, the US National Short Track Speedskating Team. The facility replaced the original Broadmoor World Arena (1938–1994), which had been a historic center for figure skating and collegiate hockey and hosted the first ten NCAA Division I men's ice hockey championships. The World Arena also manages the Pikes Peak Center, a performing arts facility in downtown Colorado Springs.
