PPG Paints Arena is a multi-purpose indoor arena in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, designed by Populous and completed on August 1, 2010, in time for the Pittsburgh Penguins' 2010–11 NHL season. It replaced the Civic Arena, which had served the team since 1961. The facility became the first Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) gold-certified arena in both the NHL and AFL, and shortly after opening received recognition as "Best New Major Concert Venue" from the Pollstar Concert Industry Awards and "Best NHL Arena" from the Sports Business Journal. The arena also hosted the Pittsburgh Power of the Arena Football League from 2011 to 2014. Originally named Consol Energy Center, it took its current name from PPG Industries in 2016.
