Caesars Windsor is a casino resort hotel that opened on the Windsor, Ontario waterfront on July 29, 1998, initially following a temporary casino that operated from May 1994. The property comprises two hotel towers designed by WZMH Architects: the "Forum" tower, a 23-story structure completed in 1998, and the taller "Augustus" tower at 27 stories, added in a 2008 expansion. Owned by the Government of Ontario and operated by Caesars Entertainment, the casino overlooks the Detroit skyline from across the Detroit River, near the Canadian end of the Detroit-Windsor Tunnel. Its opening was instrumental in prompting Michigan lawmakers to legalize casino gambling in Detroit in the early twenty-first century. The resort attracts approximately six million annual visitors, drawing primarily from the broader Midwest region.
