Treasure Island Hotel and Casino is a pirate-themed resort on the Las Vegas Strip in Paradise, Nevada, developed by casino owner Steve Wynn and opened on October 26, 1993. Designed by Joel Bergman and Jon Jerde, the resort comprises 2,885 rooms and a nearly 48,000-square-foot casino. Its original facade featured a lagoon with two pirate ships that staged free daily battle performances for over two decades, making it a flagship family-oriented destination during the 1990s tourism boom. The resort has been home to Cirque du Soleil's Mystère since its opening, the company's longest-running show. Following MGM Mirage's 2003 renovation to attract mature audiences, the theatrical pirate battles were replaced by the Sirens of TI show. In 2009, businessman Phil Ruffin acquired the property for $755 million and reoriented it toward middle-class travelers, adding restaurants including Gilley's Saloon and Señor Frog's while allowing the pirate performances to end, though the iconic ships remain.
