Located in Chicago's Graceland Cemetery, the Carrie Eliza Getty Tomb is a mausoleum commissioned in 1890 by lumber baron Henry Harrison Getty as a memorial to his wife. Designed by the renowned American architect Louis Sullivan of the firm Adler & Sullivan, the structure represents Sullivan's distinctive approach to monumental architecture. Getty's selection of Sullivan followed his admiration for the architect's work visible throughout Chicago's Loop district, as well as Sullivan's earlier design of a mausoleum for Graceland Cemetery honoring Getty's late business partner, Martin Ryerson. The tomb is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
