Edaganathar Temple, a Dravidian Hindu shrine in Thiruvedagam village, Madurai district, Tamil Nadu, sits on the banks of the Vaigai River and is dedicated to Shiva, worshipped here as Edaganathar and represented through the lingam. His consort Parvati is revered as Visalakshi. The temple holds sacred status as a Paadal Petra Sthalam, celebrated in the 7th-century Tamil Saiva text Tevaram by the nayanars. Originally constructed by the Pandyan Empire, the present masonry structure dates to the 16th-century Nayak period. The five-acre complex features two gopurams (gateway towers) facing the principal shrines of Edaganathar and Elavrkuzhali, alongside numerous other sacred chambers. Six daily rituals and four annual festivals mark its religious calendar, with the Muthu Pandal festival during Magam (February–March) being the most significant.
