First Canadian Place, completed in 1975, is a 298-metre International Style skyscraper in Toronto's Financial District, positioned at the northwest corner of King and Bay streets. Designed by Edward Durell Stone and B+H Architects, the building combines marble, glass, and steel to create a modernist commercial tower. It serves as the global operational executive office of the Bank of Montreal. For fifty years, from 1975 until 2025, First Canadian Place held the distinction of being Canada's tallest building, before being surpassed by The One. Today it ranks as the third-tallest building in Canada and the fourth-tallest free-standing structure in the country. The building is jointly owned by Manulife Financial Corporation and a private consortium including CPP Investments, with management by Brookfield Properties.
