Located at 1030 Superior Street in Oak Park, Illinois, the Francis J. Woolley House is a Queen Anne style residence designed by Frank Lloyd Wright in 1893. Built during Wright's early career, the home exemplifies his interest in creating affordable, accessible housing. The design bears the influence of Joseph Silsbee, Wright's first teacher, and reflects the aesthetic principles of the Arts and Crafts movement. The house shares similarities with Wright's contemporaneous "bootleg houses" also in Oak Park, a group of modest dwellings that marked an important phase in the architect's developing philosophy. Today, it is recognized as a contributing property to a local and federal historic district.
