Built in 1890 for Frank West Rollins, who would later become governor of New Hampshire, this house at 135 North State Street in Concord exemplifies the Shingle style at its most elaborate. Designed by the Boston architectural firm Andrews, Jaques & Rantoul, the residence stands as one of the finest regional examples of this characteristically American late-nineteenth-century mode, with its flowing, shingle-clad surfaces and dynamic composition. The house was recognized for its historic significance when listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1984.
