Hilltop Manor is a historic garden-apartment complex in Bladensburg, Prince George's County, Maryland, built in 1942–1943 as permanent housing for the Washington metropolitan area's wartime population surge. The complex comprises eight brick buildings containing 150 apartments arranged in varied layouts—predominantly one-bedroom units with eat-in kitchens or separate dining rooms, alongside two-bedroom and duplex configurations. Architecturally, the structures blend Colonial Revival and Moderne styles, representing a transition between traditional and streamlined design vocabularies. Financed under the National Housing Act's Section 608 Title VI for World War II defense housing, Hilltop Manor exemplifies the scale and design of permanent garden-apartment development during the era, positioned as an alternative to single-family dwellings and well-suited to young middle-class families. Located along Defense Highway adjacent to Bladensburg Elementary School and the established streetcar suburb of Defense Heights, the complex remains substantially intact despite minor renovations. It is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
