The Kanawha County Courthouse in Charleston, West Virginia, is a block-long structure of rock-face masonry completed in 1892 in the Richardsonian Romanesque style. Its picturesque massing and precise design are exemplified by the twin-towered Virginia Street elevation, featuring pyramidal roofs with chamfered corners and arched belfry openings flanked by smooth grey limestone colonnettes. Located across from Charleston City Hall, the courthouse received additions in 1917 and 1924. It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1978.
