The Knesset building, seat of Israel's legislature, stands in the Kiryat HaMemshala government complex in Jerusalem. Constructed between 1958 and 1966, the structure was designed by Polish-born German-Israeli architect Ossip Klarwein for the exterior and Dora Gad for the interior. The six-story edifice, now encompassing 50,000 square feet, blends Brutalist and Neoclassical elements and houses the Knesset's Plenum, committee offices, legislative departments, as well as the Knesset Library and Chagall Lounge. The building has been expanded twice with southern and eastern wings added in subsequent years.
