The Laxey Wheel, also known as Lady Isabella, stands as the largest surviving original working waterwheel in the world, built into the hillside above the village of Laxey on the Isle of Man. Designed by Robert Casement in the Victorian era, this monumental structure measures 72 feet 6 inches in diameter and 6 feet in width, revolving at approximately three revolutions per minute. Now functioning as a national museum, the wheel exemplifies Victorian engineering prowess and continues to operate as a working testament to nineteenth-century industrial architecture.
