The Makara Nedunkuzhai Kannan Temple, located in Thenthiruperai along the Tiruchendur–Tirunelveli route in Tamil Nadu, is one of nine Nava Tirupathi temples dedicated to Vishnu and classified among the 108 Divya Desams revered by the Alvar saints. Constructed in Dravidian architectural style, the temple features a granite enclosing wall and a flat rajagopuram gateway tower. Vishnu is worshipped here as Makara Nedunkuzhai Kathar, with his consort Lakshmi as Tiruperai Nachiyar. The shrine holds significance as Sukra sthalam, a sacred site associated with the planet deity Sukra, and is celebrated in the Nalayira Divya Prabandham, the early medieval Tamil canon of the 6th–9th centuries CE. The temple follows the Thenkalai tradition and observes six daily rituals and three yearly festivals, with the ten-day Vaikuntha Ekadashi celebration in the Tamil month of Margaḻi (December–January) and Nammalvar birth celebrations being among the most prominent observances. The site is maintained by the Hindu Religious and Endowment Board of the Government of Tamil Nadu.
