The Makedonia Palace is a modernist 5-star hotel designed by Constantinos Apostolou Doxiadis and completed in 1972 on Thessaloniki's eastern waterfront. Comprising 284 rooms and suites, the building is distinguished by its expressive austerity and clearly articulated standardized structure, offering views across the Thermaic Gulf. Situated on Megalou Alexandrou Avenue near the White Tower and the Thessaloniki International Exhibition Centre, the hotel stands as a major venue for congresses and conferences. It holds particular prominence as the official residence of the Greek Prime Minister and Cabinet during the annual opening ceremony of the Thessaloniki International Fair each September. Originally owned by Greece's social security fund (IKA), the hotel has been operated under long-term lease since 2014 and remains a landmark within the remodeled Nea Paralia seafront district.
