Located in South Beach, Miami Beach, the New World Center is a concert hall designed by Frank Gehry and completed in 2011 as the home of the New World Symphony, with a seating capacity of 756. The postmodern structure is accompanied by a 2.5-acre public park designed by West 8, which features a distinctive 7,000-square-foot SoundScape projection wall—the largest permanently established projection surface in North America—equipped with 155 individually tuned speakers. The wall broadcasts free live "wallcasts" of selected performances at least twice monthly, along with video art installations, allowing the public outside the concert hall to experience programming through high-definition projection and spatial audio technology. QR codes displayed during performances enable viewers to access additional information about the works presented. Since opening in January 2011, the center and its public plaza have attracted thousands of visitors and have been credited with fostering community engagement through their accessible cultural programming.
