Sphere, a music and entertainment arena designed by Populous and completed in 2023, rises 366 feet above Paradise, Nevada, just east of the Las Vegas Strip. This $2.3 billion venue—the most expensive entertainment venue built in the Las Vegas Valley—seats 17,600 people with a total capacity of 20,000. Its defining feature is an immersive technological ecosystem: a 16K resolution wraparound interior LED screen paired with beamforming speakers and wave field synthesis, complemented by 4D physical effects. The exterior is equally striking, wrapped in 580,000 square feet of LED displays, the largest in the world. Though technically a geodesic dome rather than a true sphere, it remains the largest spherical building on Earth. The venue opened September 29, 2023, with U2's 40-show residency, and has since hosted residencies by Kenny Chesney, the Eagles, Dead & Company, Phish, the Backstreet Boys, and No Doubt, as well as Darren Aronofsky's immersive film Postcard from Earth and a 4D screening of The Wizard of Oz.
