Located at the corner of High Avenue and Market Street in Oshkosh, Wisconsin, the Grand Opera House is a brick Romanesque Revival structure completed in 1883 by local architect William Waters. Originally built as both an opera house and movie theater, the building was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. A comprehensive two-million-dollar restoration undertaken in 2009–2010 reinforced the roof trusses, replaced ceilings, repaired a large chandelier, and added a new "Grand Lounge" for improved audience amenities. Today the theater accommodates 550 patrons and hosts nearly 100 public performances annually, ranging from community and repertory theater to symphony orchestra concerts, corporate events, and private functions, under the stewardship of the non-profit Oshkosh Opera House Foundation.
