The Paard van Marken is a lighthouse standing 15.5 metres tall on the Dutch peninsula of Marken, overlooking the IJsselmeer. Built in 1839 by J. Valk, it replaced an earlier primitive lighthouse that had occupied the site since the early eighteenth century. Designated a Rijksmonument in 1970, the structure remains inhabited and is not open to public visitation.
