The Palácio do Jaburu is the official residence of Brazil's vice president, located in Brasília near the Alvorada Palace. Designed by Oscar Niemeyer and inaugurated in 1977—seventeen years after the capital's founding—the modernist structure exemplifies the architectural vision that shaped the entire city. The building takes its name from the jabiru, a common regional bird. Adalberto Pereira dos Santos, vice president under Ernesto Geisel, was its first resident, followed by subsequent vice presidents including Aureliano Chaves, Itamar Franco, and Marco Maciel, who occupied it from 1995 to 2002. The palace is recognized as a heritage asset by IPHAN, Brazil's federal heritage agency.
